When are the classes held?
Lessons are held on Monday-Thursday evenings at The Mitre in Portswood .
To see a detailed list of class times, please see the class timetable page.
Where are the lessons held?
Lessons are held at The Mitre in Portswood:
200 Portswood Road
Walk through the front door and go straight up the stairs to the function room. If you're coming in through the back door, walk all the way past the bar to the front door, turn sharp right and go up the stairs.
To see maps of the venue, go to the class venues page.
How much do lessons cost? And how do I pay?
Lessons cost just £9 per session - or if you book a course of 7 classes (£63) I'll give you your 8th class free!
Your first lesson can be paid for on the day, and after that, classes are payable one week in advance. Course payments must be made on the last lesson of your previous course in order to guarantee your space.
Payment is by cash or cheque.
What happens if I can't make lessons one week? Do I have to come on the same day each week?
Unfortunately classes are non-refundable however if you can't make your lesson one week, just let us know the week before and you're more than welcome to come on a different day, at a differernt time or you can miss a week if you prefer (you won't get charged). If you have booked in for a lesson and something comes up, as long as you give at least 3 days notice, I'll roll your lesson over to the following week.
Likewise if you're on a course, you can book in for a different time or day - or miss a week without it eating into your course payment.
This does not include uni classes or Groupon vouchers.
What should I wear?
Similar clothes to what you'd wear to any fitness lesson are ideal. T-shirt and shorts are perfect (or even tracksuit bottoms for the first few lessons) and either bare feet or trainers.
Please remove any jewellery before your lesson - and please don't use any moisturiser for at least 24 hours before your class.
Will the public be able to watch my lesson?
No. Lessons are held upstairs in their function room, totally away from peeping eyes!
What is the minimum age?
16 years - but please let us know beforehand if you are under 18.
How many people are there in each lesson?
It varies depending on the day and time, but there won't be more than 4 people per pole (up to 3 poles) - so you're guaranteed to get plenty of time on the pole.
I'm a complete beginner and have never done pole before. Does this matter?
Not at all. Almost everybody that starts off in a beginners class will never have done pole before (except for the odd drunken swing round a pole in a club...). That means that you will be in exactly the same boat as the other people in your class - and everybody is really friendly and welcoming.
